Bank of Montreal (BMO) and Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP (Blakes) have a strong commitment to providing legal services in a workplace which is rich in perspectives, backgrounds and culture. The BMO & Blakes Indigenous Summer Student Program has been established to provide an opportunity for an indigenous undergraduate student who is considering law school to gain work experience in a law firm environment and in a bank/corporate environment, to observe lawyers in the different workplaces and to perform a variety of tasks.
The Student will work at the Legal, Corporate and Compliance Group of BMO in Toronto and the Toronto office of Blakes, and will be mentored by a member of both BMO and Blakes.
Who can Apply?
This Program is open exclusively to indigenous undergraduate students.
Length of Program and Compensation
The Program will run for 8 weeks starting in June 2017 and the Student will be paid $750 per week.
How to Apply
An application should be sent no later than April 14, 2017 to BMOintern@blakes.com. The
application should include:
- a cover letter containing a brief statement of what the student would like to get out of the Program;
- a résumé; and
- transcripts (unofficial are acceptable).
Only successful candidates who have been selected for an interview will be contacted. The interview may take place in person, by video-conference or by telephone with representatives of BMO and Blakes.
